Not content to just spotlight amazing genre work done by women, the Bloody Mary Film Festival has expanded their support for female filmmakers by launching the Creators Cover, an incubator for the development of genre feature by women in Canada!

They invite alumna filmmakers who have screened at BMFF to submit feature projects to the Creators Coven for consideration. If selected, filmmakers will receive a yearlong development deal with experienced producers and mentorship sessions with industry professionals, including Audrey Cummings (Berkshire County, Darken, She Never Died) and Diana WilliamsEVP Creative for the Universe division at Madison Wells Media. (In the future, submissions will be open to all emerging female filmmakers in Canada.)

Co-Executive Director Laura Di Girolamo explains: “There’s a gap between the rich pool of female talent in Canada and the number of features made by women each year. This initiative addresses that issue in a hands-on way, and aligns perfectly with our festival’s mission to address this inequality.”

The Creators Coven will launch on November 7th, 2018 at Hotel OCHO in Toronto with an industry session followed by an opening night reception for this year’s Bloody Mary Film Festival.
